This site is a temporary staging area for the following works by HG Wells, pending acceptance and inclusion into Project Gutenberg. Once accepted, this site will be relocated & overhauled for the distribution of these files to the public domain.

Much effort has been taken to preserve the intent and nostalgia of these works as well as the content. Digital refurbishment demanded the sacrifice of most of JR Sinclair's marginal drawings in favor of smaller file sizes. Some select drawings have been incorporated into the new works --- the editor's "must haves" --- to accompany H.G. Wells' photographs. Complete liberty was taken with the relocation of the marginals in the master layouts by the modern editor. They are not in their original locations.

Generally, Wells' punctuation, grammatical style, and spelling are preserved including errors. Minor technical differences are denoted here for Gutenberg work and historical reference.

The author frequently uses long dashes to make parenthetic comments. Three (3) short dashes are substituted (---) for this practice.
Words, such as depot and melee, were originally denoted with phonetic marks that have since been dropped in modern usage. These marks were lost during the editing process. Italicizations are left intact.
Liberties were taken with outline layout formatting as a compromise to an insistent word processor. Content was left unchanged.
The lack of pagination in digital formats leave no "bottom of the page" for footnotes. Footnotes have been inserted into parenthesis in their subjected spot and notated.
Marginal drawings and photographs have been re-sized and edited for optimal viewing. Most are larger than the originals.
